I caught sight of Bridget's flowing hair and ran up behind her before she could join the crowd entering through the school's revolving door.

“Bridget,” I called out, struggling to catch up with her quick pace.

Bridget jumped and eyed the other students around us. Her false happy-go-lucky smile vanished as her eyes met their stares. “What do you want?” she snapped.

I grabbed her shoulder and pulled her to a holt. The rest of the students walked ahead.

“Will you be careful?” Bridget snarled at me.

“Sorry, I didn't realise you still cared so much about your public image,” I said, rolling my eyes. “With your follower count, I'm the one that should be worried about being caught with you.”

Bridget sighed and crossed her arms. “What's up?”

“Believe it or not, I came here to help you. You know, like you asked me too yesterday. We're not going to school today. We're going to see the other people who were at that party. It's time to get to the bottom of this and see if that scam could be related in anyway,” I said.

“Do you think it is?” asked Bridget. Jasper appeared, strutting straight past school.

“None of us are going to school today,” said Jasper, eyes wide. “We need to head down to the water, quick smart.” He grabbed our arms and pulled us away, walking fast.

“Why? What's going on?” I said.

“I turned my phone back on. Sorry, but I couldn't help myself, and well, there's news. We need to head down there, now.”

“If there's an emergency why isn't everyone leaving school?” said Bridget.

“Let's just say if you actually gave a fuck about your following you wouldn't want to get caught dead seeing this,” said Jasper.

Bridget froze in between the students flooding around us as they walked towards school. Jasper stopped and turned to her. Bridget eyed the other students, holding tight onto her arms.

“Really?” said Jasper. “Fine, suit yourself then.” He kept walking and I followed his lead.

“Wait, wait!” Bridget ran up behind us, catching up as we reached the edge of the river. We were moments away from missing the horrific scene. A body, draped in a white bag, was lifted out of the water by a crane. It was lowered onto a gurney and two bots wheeled it into to the back of an ambulance, which took off the moment the doors were slammed shut. Bridget gasped, covering her mouth with both hands. I grabbed hold of Jasper's arm. My lips trembled and my breath quaked.

“That wasn't a bot, was it?” I forced the words out of my mouth. Water stung my eyes.

Jasper gulped and he said with a voice that cracked, “No.”

We stood a distance away from the river. We were the only humans in sight. “I saw it on Rolla, moments ago. It was on Kora News. It was Mollie Kohn,” said Jasper.

I felt his pulse raise underneath my tight grip. I let my hand fall limp as the ambulance drove out of sight. My heart sunk to the depths of my churning stomach and my body turned numb.
